How do I do a running head for APA style?

Answer

According to the APA Manual 7th edition, running heads are no longer needed for student papers. Follow the below instructions to add a running head in MS Word 2016 if your instructor requires one.

Step 1: Double clicker in the Header area of your paper to access the edit Header/Footer bar. Or, go to the Insert tab and click on Header/Footer.

Step 2:  The "Running Head" should only be on your title page. To do this, click on "Different first page" in your header setting.

Step 3: You will also need to add a page number to the title page. In order to do this, you will want to move your cursor to the desired location (top right) and select Page number > Current position
